CONTRACTS & FEE INFORMATION

There are six steps in the process of designing a garden. Each step incurs various fees and it is impossible to provide an accurate estimate of any of the process until we have some idea of what you have in mind and the nature of the landscape you would like designed.

However, the initial consultation is free for gardens in Hawke's Bay urban areas - if you're not sure whether you fall within that area, phone me and we'll talk about it!

STEP ONE • Initial Consultation

This consultation gives you the chance to get to know the designer a little, and for the designer to learn about you and your lifestyle.

The initial consultation usually takes between 30 minutes to 2 hours.

STEP TWO • Site Evaluation & Survey

This involves the gathering of as much information about the site as possible from the physical conditions through to historical and cultural factors.

STEP THREE • The Brief

Jamie generates a brief for the design which is in written form and sets out the framework for the design.

Once the initial concept is agreed upon, a developed concept involves more detail. It is drawn to scale, with a clear indication of the materials to be used, the types of plants to be used, and the look of any structures such as swimming pools or pergolas.

Often the garden can be developed from this drawing.

STEP FOUR • Initial Concept

Often simply sketched, this is a loose idea for the style and form of the garden - little detail but an overview of the complete design.

STEP Five • Developed Concept

Once the initial concept is agreed upon, a developed concept involves more detail with enough information you for to be able to visualise the finished garden.

STEP Six • Construction Drawings

These include specific and precise detail including such things as earthworks, drainage, construction of features and planting.
