The role of plants in the New Zealand garden has changed substantially in the last generation of gardeners.

Thirty years ago plants were almost the sole element of a garden, along with lawn, concrete and laundry lines !

Now the structure of a garden is more complex, and the elements far more numerous and diverse. Gardens are often designed as a series of rooms, some with plants as their dominant feature, others with constructed walls, floors and even roves, and plants are used as sparse "soft furnishing"

Jamie utilizes a wide range of plants, with a preference for New Zealand natives, and plants with bold architectural form.

Jamie is happy to incorporate plants selected by the clients into his designs, and can easily make a feature of a specific plant of significance to the client.
